Yorktown’s EL students come from all over the world. Since EL courses started at Yorktown in 1991 we have welcomed students from 83 countries who have spoken 71 different languages.
This school year, our students come from Afghanistan, Bolivia, China, Colombia, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Japan, Mexico, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Senegal, Sudan, Turkey, and Ukraine.
They each speak two or more of the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Dari, English, Farsi, French, Hindi, Japanese, Malayalam, Mam, Mongolian, Nepali, Pashto, Quechua, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Wolof.
