Install a YHS Plug & Play Printer

How to Install a YHS Plug & Play Printer

In order to install a home printer, you first need to give your computer permission to install a printer.  By default most laptops already have this set up.  Please check incase you do not.  Here is how you can do that…

1.) Open the “App Catalog” – square blue icon with white down arrow in the bottom right corner of your dock. Open the App Catalog
2.)

Scroll down to “Printers – Allow Students to Install – App Catalog” and click “Install“.

NOTE: IF it says “Installed” already you can move on to step 6.

Click "Install" on "Printers - Allow Students to Install - App Catalog"
3.) Click “Install” again on “Printers – Allow Students to Install – App Catalog Click "Install" again on "Printers - Allow Students to Install - App Catalog"

4.) Let this run for about 20 minutes.

5.) Restart your computer

6.) Plug the USB cord or the USB-C Adapter & cord into your laptop. Plugging Printer into MBA USB-C Port Plugging Printer into MBA USB Port
7.) Go to System Preferences> Printers & Scanners> + System Preferences Icon > System Preferences w/ Arrow pointing towards Printers and Scanners >
8.) Select “HP LaserJet P4015” and then click the “Add” button. It will read “Setting up device“. Let it run in the background. System Preferences> Add Printer> w/ Arrow pointing towards HP LaserJet P4015   >  System Preferences> Printers & Scanners> Add Printer w/ Red Arrow pointing towards "HP Laserjet P4015" and yellow arrow pointing towards "Add" > Setting up 'HP LaserJet P4015...'
9.)

Go to the  Apple Logo and click “Restart” to restart your computer.

Once your computer restarts, log in, and you should be able to print.

If you are not successful after you complete the steps above….

  1. Go back to the App Catalog and start over at #1 above, it may take longer to push down the program depending on your connectivity.
