Updating Your MacBook Air

Self Service

To fix basic problems like an incorrect date or time, to install available software, and to keep your MacBook Air up to date, use the Self Service application. This is located in your Dock by default, and in your Applications folder. It looks like this:

Self Service Icon” To use Self Service, you must be properly connected to the APS network; you cannot run it from home.

You should run the “Update Inventory” script regularly, to keep your computer up to date. You can also find updates to various applications like your Chrome browser here.

If you see any update that says “OS” (which stands for Operating System), like “OS X Yosemite,” you should run that as well. You can always trust applications and scripts in the APS Self Service window.
