Yorktown’s HILT students come from all over the world. Since HILT started at Yorktown in 1991 we have welcomed students from 79 countries who have spoken 67 different languages.
This school year, our students come from Bangladesh, Bolivia, China, East Turkistan, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iran, Iraq, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Peru, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
They each speak two or more of the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bangla, Bengali, English, Farsi, Hindi, Hungarian, Mam, Mongolian, Oromo, Pashto, Portuguese, Punjabi, Quechua, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Turkish, Urdu, Uyghur and Vitaya.
