Theatre Arts I

Theatre Arts I is an introductory year where students build a foundation in team work, ensemble acting, voice, movement, choral readings, improvisation, scene study, character analysis and monologues. The goal of the class is to establish a nurturing, safe environment where students can experiment with all aspects of theatricality and take creative risks without fear of judgment.

Theatre Arts II

This course is designed to continue the study of theatrical techniques and performance skills gained in Theater Arts I. Through collaborative group exercises, students will expand on basic acting techniques, improvisation skills, and elements of theatre production.  Areas of concentration will include directing, auditioning, characterization, acting, self development and the writing/staging/acting of a 5 minute opposite character monologue.

Theatre Arts III

This is an acting and directing enhancement course designed to continue the study of theatrical and production skills gained in Theatre Arts I & II.  Through a group ensemble students will study advanced acting, directing, auditioning and production.

Theatre Arts IV

This is a performance course designed to continue the study of theatrical and production skills gained in Theatre Arts I, II, & III.  Through a group ensemble students will continue to study advanced acting techniques, improvisation skills, directing, scene study, and elements of theatre production.

Technical Theatre

This course is an introductory survey course designed to introduce and expand the student’s knowledge and skills in technical theatre production.  Throughout the course of the year, the students focus on at least three different areas of production: lighting, set construction, make-up, properties, publicity or stage management.  Working as a collaborative production team, students will actively engage in providing the technical support for a variety of theatrical events as well as analyze plays for an understanding of conceptual design.  Opportunities will be provided for pursuit of individual and group interest.
