Faculty Sponsors: Ms Benites, Ms. Mahan

The National Honor Society recognizes students for scholarship, leadership, service and character. Membership in the Yorktown chapter is by invitation to Juniors and Seniors who have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and are recommended by the NHS faculty advisory board. Invitations to apply are mailed at the beginning of the school year to eligible students.

NHS generally comes together three times a year; additional communication is facilitated through email. Members are required to perform a minimum of 30 hours of service each year, 10 hours being independent with one organization, 10 hours involving NHS projects sponsored or supported by Yorktown’s NHS chapter, and 10 hours being the student’s choice (independent or sponsored). Members are expected to attend all meetings, maintain their cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above, and uphold the standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
