Process for College Application Submissions

Electronic Submission

Student establishes one email address and password for all college, Common Application, Coalition Application and Naviance Student accounts (a Common App account is needed for Naviance electronic transmissions).

Student completes FERPA waiver form on Naviance, in the Colleges I Am Applying to section

Student submits the following electronically directly to college by application due date:

  • Application
  • Essays/Statements
  • Activities Sheet/Resume (optional)
  • Portfolio of special talents/skills such as photos, art, recorded music (following instructions given by specific colleges)

Student confirms request for Teacher Letter of Recommendation on Naviance by completing and sending request alert as well as providing teacher with electronic or hardcopy list of the schools to which teacher is sending letters (Always ask teacher in person first!).

Student confirms request for Counselor Letter of Recommendation by emailing counselor at least three weeks before due date and attaching resume as well as completed student and parent response forms.

Student completes/submits Electronic Transcript Request form (in Counseling Department waiting room) at least two weeks prior to application due date. Carefully follow directions on form about submitting payment.

Student uses College Board or ACT website to order college entrance exam score reports for each college application.

Counselor submits the following electronically on Naviance by application due date:

  • Official transcript
  • Secondary report (if needed)
  • Letter of recommendation (if needed)

Teacher submits the following electronically on Naviance by application due date:

  • Letter of recommendation (if needed)
  • Teacher report form (for Common Application)

USPS Mailed Submission

Student mails the following directly to College Admissions Office by application due date:

  • Application
  • Essays/statements (if required)
  • Activities sheet/resume (if required)
  • Portfolio of special talents/skills (following instructions from college)

We recommend that the student speaks to or reminds counselor, teacher, coach, job supervisor in person about writing a letter of recommendation if one is required.  (Preferably student has already approached letter writer in the Spring of junior year)  The counselor may ask for a completed student/parent response form before they will begin writing.  The teacher, coach, or supervisor should be provided with an addressed, stamped envelope for each college application, and a summary list of the schools to which they are to send letters.

Student completes/submits Paper Transcript Request form (in Counseling Department Waiting Room) at least two weeks prior to application due date. Carefully follow directions on form about submitting postage, payment, addressed envelope.

Student completes/submits self addressed, stamped post card to be used to confirm mailings.

Student uses College Board or ACT website to order college entrance exam score reports to be sent directly to each college

Counselor mails the following to each college by application due date:

  • Official transcript
  • Secondary report (if needed)
  • Letter of recommendation (if needed)

Teacher mails the following to each college by application due date:

  • Letter of recommendation
  • Teacher report form (for Common Applications)
