PRIME Info Meeting

Parent/Student Information Meeting in the Career Center Commons

Professional Related Intern/Mentorship Experience (PRIME) PRIME, an internship program for rising juniors and seniors, is organized through the APS Career Center.  It is designed to provide gifted students with unpaid internships in professional organizations related to their fields of interest. Students are assigned mentors; this allows them to gain first-hand knowledge and skills required in the professional world. By working closely with mentors, students become familiar with the realities of the world of work, as well as necessary traits for the career area. The PRIME program is offered during the summer months; students need to be available for the entire duration of the internship. Interns will earn one unweighted high school credit, as well as one college credit for NOVA’s SDV100: College Success Skills course, for 140 hours of work. Students and mentors negotiate the details of the internship hours. Interns must be at least sixteen years of age, available for all four weeks of the internship, and be able to provide their own transportation to the internship location.
