Fall Sports can start as early as the beginning of August.  Students wishing to participate in sports must have a VHSL physical form completed after May 1, 2024 and contact Mary Ann Mahan, maryann.mahan@apsva.us with the student’s Name, Student ID and Date of Birth.   Yorktown High School Files & Links (yorktownsports.org)

Tours, Wednesday, August 14 

11:30 AM-12:30 PM – Main Entrance (Door 1) All new students – 9th grade and transfer students of all grade levels – and parents/guardians are invited to arrive anytime at the main entrance (door 1) between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm for guided building tours.  Tours will last approximately 20 minutes and will depart as groups arrive from the main entrance of the building.  Upperclassmen will lead the tours and point out important offices, locations and provide a general overview of the building.  Students need not have their own individual schedule for this event.

 

Orientation, Wednesday, August 21 

6:00-7:00 PM – Parents (auditorium), Students (main gym), Transfer students (library), Transfer parents (Patriot Hall)

All 9th grade and transfer students of all grade levels as well as their parents are encouraged to attend this evening event beginning at 6 pm.  Students will take part in a Pep Rally and tours of the building, and will hear about experiences from upperclassmen.  Parents will meet school staff, learn about our school philosophy, review logistics regarding scheduling and counseling in addition to hearing about opportunities for their students to get involved in Yorktown.  Transfer students and parents will have a simultaneous program focused on relevant information, including an opportunity to meet current transfer students. There will be an activities fair for all attendees in the cafeteria.

 

Walk the Building Thursday, August 22 

10:30-11:30 AM – Yorktown High School Main Entrance All new students, including transfers, are invited to bring their schedule and walk the building in preparation for the first day of school anytime between 10-11:30 am.  Students can arrive and depart on their own schedule during this hour-long timeframe.
