October 1, 2021
Dear Yorktown Families and Students,
Yesterday we welcomed Dr. Durán for a visit, and shared many wonderful things happening at Yorktown. Next week, Homecoming and Spirit Week are upon us! We encourage all of our students to participate in the many activities such as our spirit theme days and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 9.
We appreciate the support of all of our parents and students in being safe at school, school events, and in the community by wearing masks appropriately with covering the mouth and nose, washing hands frequently, and maintaining social distance to the greatest extent possible.
Have a great weekend.

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT YORKTOWN
Homecoming 2021 is next week!
Homecoming 2021 is October 4- 9. There are Spirit Week festivities, a Pep Rally, and the dance. Each class (ie – Class of 2023, etc) and YHS Clubs are invited to participate in the Spirit Walk at 6:15 prior to the home football game.
Spirit Week – Show Patriot Spirit!
Students are invited to dress up every day next week with the following themes:
Homecoming Dance – Saturday, October 9th
The Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, October 9, from 7:30-10:30 PM in the YHS Courtyard (weather permitting or the event will be postponed). Tickets will be sold October 4-8 in the ticket booth in the Atrium during all three lunch periods and Tuesday-Friday during Patriot Period in the same location. Tickets are $20 per person. While we will try to accommodate as many as possible, we do encourage purchasing tickets earlier in the week and will not be selling tickets after Friday under any circumstances.
All those attending the dance, including guests, will need to be fully vaccinated (14 days after the final dose in a regimen) or participate in an APS COVID test on Friday, October 8, between 11:30 am – 6 pm (See ResourcePath Website for Opt-In Form). Students should bring their vaccination card when purchasing the ticket. Information on the testing option will be given to those who are not vaccinated when they purchase their ticket. Students who are not vaccinated and do not have an APS COVID test clearance card will not be allowed entry to the dance.
Students who wish to bring a guest (non-YHS student) should complete a guest pass and purchase the ticket for their guest, turning in the guest pass and $20. The guest will need to provide evidence of vaccination at the door or come to Yorktown on Friday, October 8, between 3-6 pm for a COVID test and clearance ticket. Guests will show either proof of vaccination or an APS administered COVID test clearance ticket at the door on Saturday for admittance.
All attendees are required to wear a mask while inside APS property which will include the atrium, cafeteria, hallways, and restrooms. Masks are not required while outside in the courtyard.
