Current Service Opportunites

  • Prudential Spirit of Community Awards!  Just four weeks remain for youth volunteers to apply for national recognition through the 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. This program is an excellent opportunity to shine a spotlight on students who have distinguished themselves through community service, and celebrate the spirit of volunteerism throughout the student body. Honors are granted at the local, state and national level.  Students can apply at: http://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit  Complete the application and the student/parent agreement by November 8, 2016
  • Lead groups of 3rd-5th grade students through a science experiment, culminating in the 6th annual Aspire! After school Learning science fair! Background or interest in science is helpful but not necessary. Volunteers must be available on at least one of these days: Arlington Mill- Mondays/Tuesdays Mill 5:30-6:00pm,  Virginia Gardens- Mondays/Thursdays 5:30-6:00pm,   Buchanan Gardens- Tuesdays/Wednesdays 5:30-6:00pm Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.  Conact: 703-379-6488 ext 103 or visit website at http://www.aspireafterschool.org/volunteer
  • Make a difference in the community! Walk with Yorktown students and families to support Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind’s programs for the blind and visually impaired.  Register at clb.org, or show up on race day and look for the Ms. Pari wearing a Yorktown shirt!  National Mall, October 9th. – added 9/14/16
