Seniors will order Caps & Gowns for graduation in school on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, as well as take care of other important senior business. Absentees on this day should report to the Student Activities Office immediately upon return to school to order their Caps & Gowns. The cost of the Cap & Gown is included in the Senior Dues.
Note: Do NOT order a Cap & Gown through the Jostens announcement order form – gowns are ordered by the school.

Receiving and Preparing Caps & Gowns
Seniors will receive their Caps & Gowns at Graduation Rehearsal on the morning of graduation. As soon as you get your gown home, try it on. If you have a problem, see Ms. Stotler before 11:00 AM. At home, hang up the gown to let the wrinkles fall out. If you must iron your gown, use the spray button on your iron to dampen the fabric and iron on low or medium heat.
Wearing Your Gown
Graduation is a formal affair and appropriate dress is required. Underneath the gown, girls may wear a dress (with pockets will allow you to carry your cell phone discreetly) or dress pants and nice shoes with low heels – there will be stairs to ascend and descend the stage. Do not wear flip-flops. Boys should wear dress pants, shirt & tie, and dress shoes.
Your Cap & Gown may be withheld if you are on the Withholding List or need to register for summer school. Be sure that your Senior Dues of $85.00 has been paid as well as any school financial obligations incurred during your years at Yorktown (i.e. lost laptop, books, calculator, team uniforms, etc.). After April 30, ONLY cash or certified checks will be accepted. A Withholding List for outstanding obligations is posted in the Activities Office. If all obligations have NOT been cleared, you will NOT be issued your Cap & Gown or Guest Tickets to Graduation and may not walk in the Graduation ceremony. If you are on the Withholding List, contact the Finance Officer, Ms. Mack, in person (Main Office), by phone at 703-228-5407, or by email at Lottie.Mack@apsva.us.
