No transportation for graduates is provided by the school. Parking may be difficult, so plan extra time to park and walk to Constitution Hall. Doors open to the public one hour prior to the ceremony and seating is general (see below for disabled guest seating). The ceremony typically lasts 1-1/2 hours.

Graduates must arrive one hour early dressed in Cap & Gown and at the appropriate entrance at Constitution Hall. Seniors A-K will enter through the C Street entrance. Seniors L-Z and all Band/Chorus members will enter through the D Street entrance.

What to Bring

Seniors will receive a Name Card in their Cap & Gown package. BRING THE NAME CARD TO GRADUATION. Silence cells phones and leave any personal items with parents/guardians.

Each Senior will receive six (6) Guest tickets with his/her Cap & Gown at Graduation Rehearsal. All guests – including infants – must have a ticket and will enter through the main entrance on 18th Street NW. Doors will open to the public one hour prior to the ceremony. Once the Processional begins Constitution Hall staff will shut the doors and no one will be admitted until the Processional is over. The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.

Disabled Guests

DAR Constitution Hall access for persons with mobility disabilities is through the entrance doors on D Street. The ramp on D Street may be accessed by vehicles for dropping off guests with mobility disabilities. The D Street ramp is at the lobby level. Orchestra level seating is accessed by a slight ramp from the lobby level and is behind the graduate seating.  Please ask the Doorman, Ticket Taker or Event Staff member at the entrance for assistance if needed. There is no parking on the D Street Drive. Entry is permitted no earlier than one hour prior to the ceremony.

Address and Directions

D.A.R. Constitution Hall is located at 18th and D Streets, NW, Washington, D.C. Follow I-66 east to the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge (Route 50) and stay right to Constitution Avenue. Turn left onto 18th Street. Constitution Hall is on the right between C and D Streets. Street parking is scarce at that time of day. There are parking garages around the area but, at that time of day, they are often quite full. You should plan extra time for locating parking AND walking back to Constitution Hall. You may want to consider a taxi, Uber, Lyft, or parking app. The closest metro station is Farragut West, at 18th & I Streets, NW (about 5 blocks away).

Financial Obligations

All obligations – including those from previous years – must be met for you to participate in the graduation ceremony. Therefore, make sure you have returned all books, calculators, and uniforms, paid your dues and lab fees, etc. There will be a list posted in the Activities Office with the Dues and Withholding status of all Seniors. If unsure, check the list or contact the Yorktown Finance Office at 703-228-5407 by the end of April.

Act early to get off of the withholding list.
