Arlington Public Schools (APS) utilizes Canvas as its primary Learning Management System (LMS) to provide a centralized and dynamic online learning environment. This platform serves as a hub for students, teachers, and parents, facilitating access to course materials, assignments, grades, and announcements. Canvas enables teachers to deliver engaging content, create interactive discussions, and provide timely feedback, while students can easily track their progress, submit work, and collaborate. By leveraging Canvas, APS supports flexible learning, enhances communication, and streamlines educational workflows across the district.
Canvas for Students
Teachers and students engage in learning through Canvas, our learning management system (LMS). Canvas allows students to access their classes, assignments and assessments, and communicate with teachers.

Canvas for Parents
Parents can create a Canvas Parent Observer account via web browser or the Canvas Parent app to monitor their child’s academic progress. While ParentVUE remains the official source for grades and totals, a Canvas Observer account offers more detailed assignment information, feedback, and direct communication with teachers.Through the web browser, observers can view all enrolled courses, assignment content, grades, feedback (for assignments graded in Canvas), and manage notifications, and message teachers. However, they cannot view discussions, quizzes, or content from integrated tools like Google Docs or MS Streams. For secondary students, official grades must still be checked in ParentVUE unless a course is part of the Canvas grading soft rollout.
